When I was growing up, I spent many summer days struggling to shove a
bulky Toro mower through the thick mat of grass that was my yard. That
was my main weekly chore. I pushed that same mower around the

Great gift idea!
I recently started my own business doing what I love. I designed a
studio to create custom drawn portraits from your own favorite photos.
A custom portrait is a great gift idea for any special occasion,
especially to preserve any special memory. I usually give them out as
wedding, Christmas, birthday or anniversary presents. I am sure you
can think of other important occasions that cal... more >>

when to stop swaddling?
My son is 4 mos old and I still swaddle him for naps and nighttime
sleep. If I don't he squirms and keeps himself up. The arms and legs
startle him and wake him back up.
But he's getting too long for these swaddlers and blankets.
How do I transition him to not swaddled but keep him relaxed enough to
sleep? Is it just coping thru a few nights of him not sleeping?
TIA!

opinion needed
Hey fellow parents!
I would like some other parents opinion about an issue before I take it up
with my husband.
We have a very-soon-to-be one year old son. When he's alone with me,
everythin is just fine. We play together, but when I need to get something
done or just want to sit back for a minute, it's no big deal to DS and he
goes about playing independently.
My husband, on ... more >>

Late activities?
I've been keeping tabs on the sleep and older children thread, and am
personally quite amazed at how many extracurricular activities (even
for younger children) take place at what I consider to be eating
dinner/getting ready for bed time - i.e. after 7pm! Swimming, piano
lessons, etc....!!! Is this a normal thing in the US? It's definitely
not common here in the Czech Republic...all our... more >>

Preemie Advice and Info About Birth Asphyxia?
Hi,
Last week I gave birth by emergency C-section to a 31 week old boy. Our
little dude had a traumatic start--he hadn't moved for 2 or 3 days and
had a nonreactive heartbeat. I was luckily at the hospital when his
heartbeat stopped. He was born with less than 7 PH, pulminary
hypertension, 0 apgar, the whole works. However, he rebounded perfectly
and is exactly where any "healthy" pree... more >>

Okay, admit it. You've seen the trailers for R.V., and you already suspect

Review: Akeelah and the Bee (** 1/2)
AKEELAH AND THE BEE
A film review by Steve Rhodes
Copyright 2006 Steve Rhodes
RATING (0 TO ****): ** 1/2
Spell "schmaltzy." And if you want to hear it used in a sentence, you could
say, "AKEELAH AND THE BEE is an uplifting film about a ghetto child who
makes good, but the script is marred by several extremely contrived and
needlessly schmaltzy moments." By writer and... more >>
