Why boys?
Most of students diagnosed with learning disabilities and a-d-h-d are male. And boys are also more like to get d's and f's in school. But why? I recently started my own business doing what I love. I designed a studio to create custom drawn portraits from your own favorite photos. A custom portrait is a great gift idea for any special occasion, especially to preserve any special memory. I usually give them out as wedding, Christmas, birthday or anniversary presents. I am sure you can think of other important occasions that cal... more >>
Etiquette question
I want to thank all those people who expressed sympathy on the loss of my mom. Some of them are buried in the sleep thread, and because people often munge their addresses, I don't think I can thank them individually. But my question is - if a person writes an email to me, is it appropriate to respond in an email? It would seem logical to me that it would be especially as I might no... more >>

4.5 year old boy hits kids in preschool for no reason
My son has started hitting kids in preschool for no reason. He'll just be sitting there and smack someone unprovoked. My husband and I will be getting a dissolution in about a month, so I realize tension is there, but it's not been a really messy dissolution. We have tried everything from giving rewards for good behavior, which hasn't happened often, to taking things away at home. The... more >>

Best swaddling solution for 3-month old?
Hi, My daughter who's nearly three months likes to sleep swaddled at night. Initially we wrapped her in a receiving blanket but as soon as she started to wriggle it would come undone, so we've been using a swaddling wrap called Kiddopotamus, which we received as a gift. I believe it was the smallest size and it's served us well till now - she's grown too long for it (23 inches, was 20... more >>
Positive affirmations for kids?
We are raising our 4yo DS with positive parenting principles. He is affectionate, bright and I think well-balanced, but sometimes lacks belief in himself and his abilities. He is reluctant to try new things even if they are fun. Has anyone used 'positive affirmations' for a 4 year old, in particular to increase self confidence and self esteem? Is this a suitable way forward or does it ... more >>
